In this event recap piece, Mr. Marc and the Adventure to Fitness team traveled to Schmid Elementary in Chicago, IL to celebrate the launch of their newest episode, Operation: Outer Space!
I was the director of photography and editor on this project. I enjoyed the opportunity this project gave me to directly interact with the students and teachers, capturing their energy and excitement for the program.
A2L is a unique educational platform specially created and curated to support active learning in PK-8 classrooms.
As this organization expands from their Adventure 2 Fitness arm, I was tapped to create an animated explainer video to sell the value of the platform to the teachers, parents, and students.
ACCME 2017 Data Report Introduction
I’ve been been full-time at the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education since 2016, in the role of Multimedia Developer.
Since I’ve started at the ACCME, the organization has undergone a re-brand and made numerous changes to make itself more accessible to the public. My role has allowed me the opportunity to help execute our new brand voice and tone.
We’ve made a big commitment to video, and it’s been exciting to be a part of the organization’s transition to becoming more communications-based. I’ve shot and edited over 50 videos in my time at the ACCME, and here are a few samples.
Call for Stories for ACCME 2019
An animated piece I created using photos from past meetings. This was designed for social media use, in an effort to drive submissions for this year’s annual meeting.
ACCME Launches New Website
A social media video created to announce the ACCME’s new website. We tried to keep this as light as possible while still getting across the key information our stakeholders needed to receive.
Early Bird Registration for the ACCME 2019 Meeting
A quick animated event promo spot for ACCME marketing emails and social media posts.
Zipcar Profiles: Chicago's Heritage Bicycles
In this Zipcar profile- we document Chicago's Heritage Bicycles as they navigate a workday of their quickly-growing enterprise.
I served as a cam-op and the editor of this piece. The main challenge here was to create something that could be both promotional in context, but also fairly depict Heritage and its employees in a realistic and interesting way.
This was a great experience in creating advertorial content for a major brand.
Blackmagic URSA Setup and Overview
Working with Magnanimous Rentals, I created animated title cards, motion graphics, and rotoscope animations outlining key features on the then newly-released Blackmagic URSA cinema camera. This video allowed me the opportunity to visually explain technical concepts about the camera and its uses in a way the voiceover couldn't accomplish on its own.
Sears Walk the Path
Sears Appliance Delivery: Walk the Path
I worked on a contract basis for Sears HC in Chicago as a freelance editor and motion designer. A number of my team’s projects focused on creating online product videos and tutorials designed to be used on product pages.
This “Walk the Path” spot shows potential shoppers how to prep for appliance delivery.
I pulled together stock footage, brand assets, and motion graphics to create this piece.
I was commissioned to create this promo video for Dryv, a dry-cleaning delivery service operating in the tech startup scene in Chicago.
Collaborating with the Dryv team early on, I was very involved in creating a concept designed to show how the product would fit into the lifestyles of its target customers.
I produced, shot, and edited this piece- which helped drive initial traffic to Dryv's social media platforms, and was used in numerous company presentations.
Chicago and Illinois Councils' BBYO Reunion Celebration
For this project, I worked with Chicago photographer/videographer Tim Klein to help tell the story of BBYO’s Chicago chapter and the families who have made it part of their lives over the years.
I served as editor on this piece, and also selected and animated all archival photos. I enjoyed working on this project because of its emotional impact, but also because of its documentary style- an avenue I really like to work in.
Offhigh Apparel Launch
Offhigh Apparel Launch
Columbus lifestyle brand Offhigh commissioned me to create an animated promo video for their first apparel launch. Offhigh trusted me in its infancy to help create the tone and brand voice that they’d be using going forward. I used my creative intuition and existing relationships with the client to feel out something I thought would get their potential customers excited.
I loved the opportunity I got here to experiment. I emphasized keeping things loose and making sure I was always having fun in the creation process, and hoped these things would translate to the viewer.
I also took this opportunity to teach myself a number of 2D animation techniques using Illustrator and After Effects, creating a cut and paste style designed to fit the brand's visual identity.
AnimalXHouse 3 Year Anniversary
#AnimalXHouse 3 Year Anniversary
NYC and Ohio-based concert series AnimalXHouse is making themselves known as tastemakers in the rap world. I’ve been involved with the brand as an unofficial consultant and videographer/editor since their early days, and it’s been fun to have a part in helping to grow the band. I’ve created promotional pieces and event recap videos going back to 2012.
For this piece, they enlisted me to create a promotional piece for their 3 year anniversary show featuring rapped Casey Veggies.
Patching together existing footage, graphic art, and title animations, I created this piece. In addition to providing creative direction, I was the editor and motion graphic designer for this project.
MADE by NGO
MADE by NGO Jacket Release
In 2012 I documented fashion designer Ngockhanh Ngo early in his career while creating this short promo piece for his MADE by NGO brand.
At this time he was making custom-made varsity jackets out of vintage materials and denim. These jackets would then be sold at Columbus's monthly Gallery Hop Event.
I find it really interesting any time I get a chance to document an artist's process, and I think I was able to do so here in a way that also played well as a social-media promo.
